Psalm 116: 5-6 & 8-9

"The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion. The Lord protects the simplehearted; when I was in great need, he saved me. For you, O Lord, have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living."

"...Who am I, O Lord, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?"... David's prayer in 2 Samuel 7:18. Like David, I have asked this same question of God on numerous occasions over the last few years. His living water flows and carries us through times of joy and through times when our soul is troubled and barely able to stay afloat. When the rushing waters settle a bit, I reflect and in awe and wonder am amazed at how far He has carried me and my family. "We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you." ~2 Corinthians 4:10-12 I so treasure it when God opens my eyes to scripture and reveals Himself to me and teaches me. 2 Corinthians speaks about the death of Jesus, the ultimate sacrifice, but also the life of Jesus, that in His death we have been given life. We face challenges and circumstances we often cannot escape, so that in these challenges we may remember God's grace and how badly we need and must have His grace in our lives. For by grace we have been saved. Remembering His grace means we remember how it is God revealed His grace and mercy through the blood of his son, Christ Jesus. Although we face trouble and heart ache, we can victoriously give thanks to God for refining, shaping and growing us. In the end, He is given the glory while we bask in His grace. I simply tilt my head heavenward and say, Thank you- For who am I, O Lord, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?
